According to the organiser, CPSE attracted some 1 600 exhibitors and 130 000 visitors in 2015.
China Public Security (CPSE) 29 October 1 November 2017
The world's largest security show will
attract 130,000 visitors to Shenzhen
The 15th edition of China
Public Security (CPSe)
takes place in the Shen-
zhen Convention and
exhibition Center from 29
October 1 November.
It is a huge event with
11 halls (110,000 square
meters) and companies
from more than 50 coun-
tries will showcase their
security products and
solutions.
According to the organiser, CPSE
2015 attracted some 130,000
visitors from 150 countries and
regions. This year, there will be
more than 6,000 booths and there
is no doubt CPSE is bigger than
both Ifsec in London and Security
Essen in Germany. The show floor
is 110,000 square metres and in
2015, somewhere between 10 to
15 per cent of the exhibiting com-
panies and about 8 to 10 per cent
of the visitors were international
according to the organiser.
Broader range of exhibitors
Most of the exhibiting companies
will be displaying products and
solutions for physical security,
everything from locks, alarms, ac-
cess control to video surveillance.
However, already in 2015, there
seemed to be a broader range of
exhibitors with a lot of newcom-
ers and a lot of IT and Internet
companies were present.
"One can expect that trend to
continue", says Detektor publisher
and AR Media International CEO
Lennart Alexandrie, who has vis-
ited the last three CPSE events.
Internet of Things is big
China is at the forefront technol-
ogy-wise and the development
towards IoT solutions in China's
major cities is very apparent. The
number of connected devices
are increasing swiftly, including
systems and products for physical
security, and Lennart Alexan-
drie stresses that the need for IT
security solutions is greater than
ever before.
He says: "At CPSE 2017, I
expect to see many examples of
both IoT and IT security solu-
tions, just as in 2015. I also want
to know more about how Chinese
manufacturers work with cyber se-
curity today, since it is something
they have been heavily criticised
for lately."
Shenzhen China's
security capital
The main organiser of CPSE is
CPSE Exhibition Co., Ltd and
the co-organisers are Shenzhen Se-
curity & Protection Industry As-
sociation and CPS Media Group.
Ministry of Commerce and the
Shenzhen municipal government
have approved the show. There is
no doubt that the focus on China
and Chinese manufacturers of
physical security products have
increased during the last years.
Hikvision is the world's largest
video surveillance manufacturer
and Dahua has the world's second
biggest market share of video
surveillance products.
After CPSE 2015, Michael
Yang, CEO of the show organiser
said:
"CPSE is like a forecast for
the industry. Now China is the
manufacturing and trading centre
for the whole security industry
and at every CPSE, you will see
the future of the industry".
And the fact that the world's
fastest growing and largest physical
security fair is located in Shenzhen
is not that notable. Since the city
started to develop some 30 years
ago, it has grown from a small
city to a centre for many indus-
tries, not least manufacturers of
electronics-based security products
in general and manufacturers of
video surveillance products in
particular.

"At CPSE 2017, I expect to see many
examples of both IoT and IT security
solutions."
