High expectations for the biggest security event in the Nordics
Event checks out of hotel to be held
at convention and exhibition centre
The Scandinavian security markets are among the most developed in
terms of technology adoption. With world leading companies, like
Axis, Assa Abloy and Securitas the private security sector is very strong
in Sweden while Denmark´s pride on the international security market
scene is Milestone Systems the global leader within VMS.
With this in mind it will be interesting to see what the the two security
exhibitions Skydd in Sweden and Sectech in Denmark have to offer in
the late autumn.
The increasing interest for Skydd
2018 is of course related to the
general rising awareness of security
and safety issues, not least caused
by recent terror acts in Europe and
in particular the incident in central
Stockholm when a terrorist con-
ducted a mass killing through driv-
ing a truck into people on the city´s
most crowded shopping street.
"Another issue that has caused
a lot of attention in Sweden is
an increasing number of gun
shootings with deadly outcome
conducted by criminal gangs,
fighting each other to protect their
business interests, mainly drug
trade in certain areas.
Security important issue
Terrorism and gang criminality has
made security a prime issue in the
on going political campaign for the
parliament election to take place in
September.
"The importance of security has
been expressed by all major politi-
cal parties . The social democratic
government is for instance in the
process of changing the restricted
laws to make it much easier to use
video surveillance for crime fight-
ing issues which wouldn't have
been possible five years ago," states
Lennart Alexandrie, Publisher of
AR Media International.
Smart city seminar topic
AR Media International is work-
ing closely with the organiser of
Skydd the International Stock-
holm Fair to make sure Skydd is
also a success in 2018. Apart from
managing the sales of the domi-
nating Security exhibition area
(Fire and Safety are other exhibi-
tion areas at Skydd), AR Media is
working with some special seminar
projects. One focuses on the Smart
City and the other on perimeter
security. including the threat and
the crime fighting use of drones.
"Perimeter Security has become
increasingly complex, mainly
because of technology achieve-
ment over the last five years.
Thermal cameras, radar and night
vision IP- cameras plus improved
perimeter alarm systems have all
contributed to an increasing array
of opportunities to not just create
re-active but also proactive solu-
tions", says Lennart Alexandrie,
who explains why drones are part
of the perimeter security concept
at Skydd.
"Drones are possible threats,
the perimeter security is is not just
a matter of protecting horizon-
tal areas but also vertically. And
drones can also be used to detect
threats, which I hope can be dem-
onstrated at Skydd", concludes
Lennart Alexandrie.
Sectech was founded in 2001, and
is organised in Sweden, Norway
and Denmark bi-annually. Focus
at these events is on video surveil-
lance, intruder alarms, ID- and
access control plus different types
of integrated solutions.
This year it is Denmark's turn
to be the host of this technology
oriented security event.
Bella Center
many advantages
Deniz Baykal, project manager for
Sectech, is very optimistic about
the outcome as the show moves
out from the hotel environment
into a venue adapted for exhibi-
tions.
"We have sucessfully made the
same shift from hotels to exhibi-
tion halls in both Sweden and
Norway," she says.
"Scandic Copenhagen Hotel
was working well for the event in
Denmark, but as the number of
visitors has doubled, our success
has created a logistics problem.
One such issue is the lack of
parking spaces, which has had a
negative effect on our potential to
further increase visitor numbers."
"The move to Bella Center
means easy access to Sectech by
car or train. The short distance
from the airport is another advan-
tage."
Sectech remains compact
Even though Bella Center offers
great opportunities for expansion
for the Sectech event, the organis-
ers are sticking to the original idea
of the Sectech concept.
"Sectech will remain a small
and compact event. It may
continue to grow, but our priority
is not to make a huge security
exhibition. The compact nature of
the show, and the tight distance
between the stands and the aisles
really brings people together. This
is essential for the concept."
Technology seminars
Sectech 2018 will also host a num-
ber of seminars which will include
topics like artificial intelligence,
cyber security, electronic perimeter
security and Internet of Things.
SKYDD 2018 2325 October in Stockholm
Sectech Denmark 78 November in Copenhagen
Skydd 2018 takes place in Stockholm on the 2325
October. It is a highly awaited event after the success
in 2016, when 10, 576 visitors gathered to witness
seminars and the latest products and services offered
by the 235 exhibitors present.
Sectech 2018 in denmark
will be held at Bella
Center in Copenhagen on
the 78 November. This
means that this compact
event leaves the hotel
environment that has
become part of its trade-
mark.
