business news Securitas acquires Diebold security business for $350M Stockholm, Sweden and North Canton, Oh (USA) Business PeoPle Securitas AB, an $8 billion Stockholm-based global provider of security services and solutions, has agreed to acquire the diebold Inc North America-based electronic security business in a transaction with a purchase price of $350 million, which according to Securitas calculations equates to approximately 11x estimated eBITdA for 2015, of the acquired operation after it has been separated from diebold Incorporated. The acquisition will be accretive to Securitas earnings per share as of 2016. With this move, Diebold aims to accelerate its transformation and better position the company to pursue growth opportunities in the dynamic self-service industry. Ten percent of the price is contingent on successful transference of certain customer relationships to Securitas. The sale is subject to regulatory approvals, customary closing conditions and working capital adjustments, and is expected to be completed during the first quarter 2016. Strategic business alliance The two companies have also agreed to a strategic business alliance in which Securitas will serve as Diebold’s preferred supplier for electronic security solutions in North America. The operation includes more than 55 000 monitored customer locations and 200 000 sites serviced. $330 million revenue Revenue for this business was approximately $330 million from June 30, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
