product news Civintec has acquired Cidron RFID reader range from Nexus Shenzhen, China Civintec, a supplier of RFID products in the global original equipment manufacturing (OeM) and original design manufacturing (ODM) segment, acquires the Cidron RFID reader product line from identity and security company Nexus Group. “Civintec will invest in product development and market growth for Cidron, focusing first on existing customers and then expanding to new customers over time,” says Sally L. J. Fang, president of Civintec Global. To simplify the transition for customers and partners, Nexus will issue an end-of-sale announcement for the Cidron RFID reader product line and refers continued supply of the products to Civintec. Nexus has cooperated closely with Civintec since 2013; Civintec has been the development and production partner for the Cidron RFID reader range since then. As Nexus’s strategy is to focus on the Smart ID concept, it is a natural step for Civintec to now take over the Cidron. Mr. Magnus Malmström, CEO of Nexus, says “I believe they have both the competence and the passion to continue the Cidron journey in the best way possible. It is important for us at Nexus to leave our customers in competent hands. We are thankful for the cooperation with Civintec over the years and wish them great success in the future.” Sally L.J. Fang, VP of Civintec expresses: “We fully respect Nexus’s decision. Nexus’s core business is within trusted identities, and issuing and managing physical and digital IDs, and as I have understood, they want to keep their focus there. We deeply appreciate the efforts by the Nexus organisation and the Cidron team during all these years – they have provided excellent service to their customers. Civintec will continue to provide the best possible service to the customers, and we will also expand the business to the global market.” Peter Bergström, CEO of Civintec Europe says: “The Cidron product range is a result of our successful cooperation with Nexus. We are very proud of how we have provided development as well as manufacturing services for the Cidron RFID reader and accessories. Today Cidron is one of the best RFID readers available on the market, and with its customisation possibilities and accessory range I dare to say it is unique. Cidron has increased its market share a lot during the last two years, especially in the Nordic countries. The addition of the Cidron reader range products to Civintec’s standard product portfolio gives Civintec countless new opportunities. Our ambition has always been to provide innovative products with a high level of quality that meet any client’s requirements on a global scale.” Raytec releases new surveillance lighting options Ashington, Northumberland (UK) Raytec is launching Urban-X; a new range of general area lighting solutions designed for applications including perimeter fence lines, pathways, car parks and other industrial applications All Urban-X luminaires combine the performance of a commercial light fitting with the durability and quality of a security luminaire.
