security events / preview There are some yearly international security industry exhibitions that for sure mean more than others. In the EMEA market IFSEC in London is certainly one of them and the upcoming Middle East exhibition Intersec, to be held on the 22nd to 24th of January 2017, is of course the other. With this early date Intersec has become an appreciated kick-off event for exporters of security equipment from all over the world. Intersec 2017 in Dubai: The 2017 kick-off event for the security industry For 18 years Intersec has proven to be the no. 1 business platform in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region and beyond. Total experience centre Intersec is an event representing the whole spectra from security technology to safety and fire protection solutions offering a total experience center to the visitors. The event is also very much affected by the GCC market’s fast adoption of new technology and solutions. The demand for expertise in integrating physical security and logical security, along with other business IT systems is strong among the visiting system integrators, according to several exhibitors from last year´s event. Apart from the general exhibitions in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Intersec offers several special pavilions showing different security and technology trends and areas of interest. Smart home Intersec 2017 will once again present the concept of Smart Home & Building Automation through its international platform. The market in the GCC has not only begun to realise the benefits in terms of comfort, security, and luxury. But also in terms of energy saving and increasing property value, thus all these realisations will continue to lead to a booming market in the GCC. The e-Home Automation estimates that there will be a requirement for automation for at least 300,000 residential properties in new “Smart/Intelligent Cities” in the GCC over the next five years and that the automation market in the region will reach USD 4 billion by 2016. GPEC-CCExpo Pavilion The organisers of Intersec and GPEC-CCExpo joined forces for a GPEC-CCExpo-Pavilion beginning at Intersec 2015 to strengthen and to complement especially the Homeland Security and Information Security sectors at Intersec. The target group for the pavillion is all safety engineers, safety officers and buyers of protective clothing who are looking for solutions and developments in personal and property protection. Safety Design in Buildings Pavilion Fires in a building with inadequate fire protection features can present severe problems and create complexity in a fire fighting operation. This inevitably causes Intersec i Dubai gathered more than 30,000 visitors. deficiency in the protection of occupants from fire and smoke during the egress or evacuation. However, the UAE requires a Code of Practice that suits the local trend and concept as well as the firefighting operational needs. It is the policy of the Civil Defence to impose measures to minimise the risk of Fire and to ensure the Safety of life and property. The purpose of this code is to prescribe minimum guidelines for property owner, designers, consultants, décor companies, contractors, suppliers, installation and maintenance companies that are obliged to follow the minimum requirements of these codes and regulations. With this in mind, for the second time, Intersec is presenting the Safety Design in Buildings Pavilion – after supporting a successful series of SDiB conferences within the GCC.
