The very last month of 2015 ended with four acquisitions: a Swiss and a dutch company, followed up by a purchase of two Brazilian companies. In December 2015 Assa Abloy entered into a definitive agreement with Docdata N.V. to acquire IAI industrial systems B.V. and its subsidiaries (“IAI”), a leading Dutch company specialising in security printing solutions for government ID, bank notes and other security solutions. ”IAI is an important technological addition to the Assa Abloy Group. The company complements our current offering within secure identity solutions. The acquisition of IAI considerably enhances the Group´s position within government ID and will provide complementary growth opportunities,” said Johan Molin, President and CEO of Assa Abloy. HID becomes unique Stefan Widing, Executive Vice President Assa Abloy and Head of business unit HID Global, explained also the importance of the acquisition ”The addition of the IAI portfolio to HID’s expertise in the field of secure identity documents sets HID apart in the industry as the only company offering a full range of both identity card and passport personalisation solutions coupled with the production of high-quality, high-security documents,”he said. IAI was established in 1990 and has some 85 employees. The company is headquartered in Veldhoven, Netherlands, where it will maintain its operations. Sales for 2016 are expected to reach EUR 20 million. Sensor technology company Assa Abloy followed up the acquisition of IAI through an agreement to acquire the Swiss company Cedes, a leading company in sensor technology to the door and elevator industry. ” Cedes represents an important step in the strategy of adding more intelligence within entrance automation. Our entrance automation business has grown from SEK 3 billion in 2008 to more than SEK 18 billion proforma in 2015”, said Johan Molin, President and CEO of Assa Abloy. According to Digital Barriers, it has conditionally agreed to acquire the entire issued share capital of Brimtek, Inc., a provider of state-of-the-art technical surveillance solutions to the US defence, homeland security, federal law enforcement and intelligence communities, for a maximum aggregate consideration of up to $45 million (£29.6 million). Digital Barriers has identified Brimtek as an attractive target for the Group, given its breadth of offerings to the US defence, national security and law enforcement communities which present significant sales synergies with Digital Barriers in the US market.
